Electric Vehicle Home Charging Station Installation in Reading and surrounding areas
The installation of a EV home charging solution is more straightforward than you might think!
Firstly, our EV home charging solutions in Reading can be installed inside or outside your property or garage; whatever best suits you. Prior to an installation, one of our approved installers will contact you to discuss your exact requirements. We will need answers to a few questions and we may ask you to send us some photos too. On the day before installation, we will be in touch to confirm some final arrangements. On the installation day itself, we will install the home EV charging point, test the charger and the circuit, demonstrate the EV home charging point’s capabilities and ensure we leave you with all the necessary documentation upon completion.
A complete electric home charging station installation usually takes just a couple of hours; leaving you to get started with your first home charge straightaway!

An OLEV grant refers to the Government’s grant for home EV charging installations which is provided by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). Refer to the Government’s dedicated page to read more on the grant and how you can apply.
OZEV stands for Office for Zero Emission Vehicles. In fact OZEV is replacing OLEV as the Government works towards a transition to zero emission vehicles, rather than just low emission. You will therefore see reference to both OLEV and OZEV when researching grants.
There are just a few installation regulations which need to be adhered to in order to install an electric home charging station. Sometimes suitability can be ascertained via photos and information provided by the customer however in some instances a site visit may be necessary. Most notably, the installer will be looking for other metal items connected to your electricity supply which are within a few metres of your desired installation location.
You will pay your standard electricity unit price when charging your vehicle. The cost of charging will depend on the amount of charge left in the battery at time of charging and also will vary by vehicle make and model. Usually the cost of charging a vehicle is between £3.00 and £7.50. Those with access to solar power will benefit even more from significant cost savings.
This depends on the vehicle and the home EV charging point installed. For any maths gurus out there, a rough calculation would be to divide the energy of your battery (in kWh) by the speed of the charger in kW. Most customers would be looking at a charging time (from flat to full) of between one to six hours.
